Here is exactly what happens from your first estimate to the confirmation SMS, and what your family will need if they ever claim.
Pick CoverRoot Funeral Cover or VAPS Funeral, then choose a cover amount for each insured member. You see an estimate before you commit.
Enter the policyholder's identity, contact and address details. A valid South African ID fills in the date of birth automatically.
Add a spouse, children, parents, siblings or extended family. The premium is calculated from the oldest member covered.
Check the policy summary, accept the declarations and type your full name as an electronic signature.
A six-digit one-time password is sent to the policyholder's mobile. Entering it signs and submits the application.
The policyholder receives an SMS with the policy number and CoverRoot's contact details. The first premium must be collected before cover starts.
You accept the privacy consent, confirm the information is accurate, acknowledge the waiting period and authorise the debit order before the OTP step.

The death certificate, the deceased's ID and the claimant's ID are usually required. We tell you exactly what is needed.

Claim requirements and turnaround times are illustrative for this prototype. The approved policy wording and claims procedure will apply to a live policy.
CoverRoot checks the application and confirms the first premium collection. In a live system, cover starts once the first premium is received and the policy is issued.
This prototype saves your progress in the browser, so you can return and continue. A live system would save it securely against a reference you can resume with.
The typed name together with a successful OTP verification acts as the electronic signature for the application. The OTP proves the policyholder controls the mobile number on the policy.
Typically the death certificate, the deceased's identity document and the claimant's identity document. CoverRoot may ask for additional documents depending on the claim.
